Zealous

A barque of 410 tons nm built at Monkwermouth in 1844 by Peter Austin and Sons.

The Zealous visited Adelaide in 1848 under command of Captain John Wilson. Dimensions

length - 106' beam - 23' 6" depth of hold - 17' 9" tonnage - 410 tons nm



The Zealous came arrived in Adelaide from London on 26 May 1848, carrying mail, passengers and emigrants. The ship's surgeon on this voyage was Mr M Thomas. It is intersting to note that the captain was fined £1 for neglecting to deliver the mail.[List]
